DMG e.V. helps directly on the ground and greatly improves educational opportunities
The German-Mozambican Society has been dedicated to education projects in Mozambique for over 25 years. Driven decisively by President Siegfried Lingel, who passed away in 2020 and was also Honorary Consul General of the Republic of Mozambique, the society today reaches more than 3,500 children and young people in Mozambique. Its work includes financing and equipping new school buildings as well as, in some schools, covering the costs of ongoing operations (meals, teaching materials and staff costs).
The aim is to give disadvantaged children in disadvantaged regions access to education and to accompany them over the long term on their educational path, from preschool through to vocational training. When selecting school projects, the DMG works in close consultation with the local communities in order to assess needs precisely and plan accordingly. The DMG's regional priorities lie in projects in Gaza Province, in the Vilankulo District (Inhambane Province) and in the greater Maputo area.

A child born in Germany, even in a low-income or disadvantaged family, has very good chances of a self-determined, fulfilling life. A child born in Mozambique does not.
