Faculty of Agriculture in Cuamba

The agricultural faculty of the Catholic University of Mozambique is located in the town of Cuamba, which has 75,000 inhabitants, near the border with Malawi, around 350 km from the city of Nampula.

The faculty is housed in a renovated barracks building. 25 professors teach 343 students. Since its founding in 1999, 1,200 graduates have completed their studies as Bachelor, Master or Licenciado.

Prof. Dr. Karl Wierer, an international expert consultant in agricultural economics and a lecturer at the Technical University of Munich-Weihenstephan, has played a key role in establishing the faculty for over ten years. He usually travels to Cuamba twice a year for four to six weeks. The DMG covers part of the costs. His stay in Mozambique is financed by the Catholic University.
