Learning together, building expertise together
Intensive ultrasound course at the UCM
In 2016, too, the German medical team visited the Faculty of Health Sciences at the Catholic University of Mozambique (UCM) and, among other things, ran an intensive ultrasound course. The team included Prof. Dr. Ulrich Solzbach (cardiologist), Dr. Werner Zürn (internal medicine), Dr. Christiane Meigen (gynaecology and obstetrics) and Prof. Dr. Florian Heinen (paediatric and adolescent medicine, paediatric neurology and neurology).
For the students, it was about an introduction to the method and the visual representation of the anatomy and function of the human body. For the young assistants, it was about building a bridge to clinical questions and decision-making support for daily practice in Africa, and for the members of the UCM teaching staff, it was about a “Train the Trainer” approach.
Once again it has been shown that „Learning by Imaging“, learning and teaching together with the ultrasound method, works particularly well. The German-Mozambican Society intends to continue this highly successful project with the team of Prof. Dr. Florian Heinen next year as well. Everyone is more than warmly welcome at the UCM.
In the ultrasound course, the language barriers disappear.
